Generate
The Generate function allows you to create new images from text prompts. Generated images appear in your workspace and can be dragged onto the canvas.
- Click the Create Image button.
- Enter your prompt, select the model you want, and choose the number of images.
- Press generate.
- Drag and drop the image onto the canvas, or click it and press Add to canvas.
To generate in custom resolution, press the settings cog icon in the controls. This opens frame settings in the left sidebar where you can resize the frame or change the aspect ratio.
Generating in resolutions other than 1024×1024 may return images at a different size than expected. This depends on the model, you may need to scale after generating. Experiment with different models; this can produce interesting results.
Edit
The edit function lets you modify images by describing the changes you want. Position the frame over the area to edit and describe the change in your prompt.
- Click an image on the canvas and press Edit underneath, or click Edit/Fill in the right sidebar and position the frame over what you want to edit.
- Write a prompt describing what to change and to what.
- Generate, drag the result onto the canvas or click Add to canvas.
- Add your image to the canvas first. If it isn't already on the canvas, drag and drop it from the right sidebar, or click the image and press "Add to canvas".
- Position the frame. Make sure the area you want to edit is inside the frame (the rectangular outline). Only what's inside the frame will be edited.
- Move if needed. Select the move tool and drag the frame to position it over the part of your image you want to edit.
Multi-image Edit
When using the edit function, you can add multiple input images to guide the AI generation. You can click the square icon next to image amount in the input field to enable multiple inputs mode, or while in edit mode press another image on the canvas and click "Add as input" underneath (as shown in the video). You can also press the add input button on the generation frame itself to add another input frame manually.
You can add up to 5 additional input frames that will influence how the AI edits your main image. These input frames can be moved around the canvas using the move tool, allowing you to position them over different parts of your existing images. What is inside each frame is given to the AI model as context to create a new image.
Think of the canvas as a moodboard. Add multiple photos, arrange them as references, and use them all as input to create or modify another image. This is particularly powerful for style transfer, composition guidance, or providing multiple visual references for complex edits.
Fill
The fill function fills in empty spaces within the frame, enabling you to expand and enhance your images or refine details. The AI fills whatever is empty inside the frame, you need to tell it what to fill with.
- Click the edit / fill button to begin expanding and editing your images.
- Select the eraser or move tool.
- Drag the frame or erase a part of the image. The empty space in the frame is what will be filled. Experiment with the amount, more or less gives different results.
- Write a prompt, at minimum, tell the AI to "fill the blank area". Adding details about what to fill with (e.g., "fill the blank area with a sunset sky") gives better results.
- Submit and wait for the images to generate.
- Click on the image and add it to the canvas. This will place the image at the right position automatically.
- Use the eraser tool to round off hard edges on images. This can give much smoother, more natural fill results.
- The AI is sensitive to how much is being filled and how much existing image context it has. Filling a large area will give different results than filling a small one.

Layers
The layers system in Visuali allows you to organize and manage different elements of your composition. Each layer can contain images, drawings, shapes, or text, and can be manipulated independently.
Working with Layers

- Use the visibility toggle (eye icon) to show or hide individual layers.
- Drag layers up or down in the panel to change their stacking order on the canvas. Click and hold the icon on the right side of the layer to drag it.
- Delete layers using the trash icon when they're no longer needed.
- Select multiple layers using the checkboxes to perform bulk actions, hide/show all, delete multiple, or invert your selection.
- Select layers by type (e.g., all brushes, erasers, images, etc.) to quickly manage specific kinds of elements.
